Since our founding in 2022, we've been getting a lot of questions. Our process is a bit unusal so we get it. We LOVE it when you want to know and learn more about BirdieBlue. So we thought we would do a little "BEHIND THE SCENES" to answer all of your burning questions!
HOW DID YOU START MAKING BAGS FROM OLD SKI AND SNOW GEAR?
Perhaps the most frequent question we get is how we we came up with the idea to turn old ski and snow gear into fanny packs, sling bags, and carry all totes.
It all started when my favorite pair of ski pants, that I had been wearing for YEARS, ripped and there was no amount of duct tape that could save them.
(These are THE pants that started it all)
When I just could NOT bring myself to throw these pants out and add to the 92 MILLION TONS OF CLOTHES THAT END UP IN LANDFILLS EACH YEAR, I decided to have some fun. I got out my scissors and sewing machine and created our first sample (lets just say its a good thing I do not sew Birdie Bags any more 😜).

HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE NAME BIRDIEBLUE?
BirdieBlue is a play on a "Blue Bird Day". The formal definition of a Blue Bird Day is "a day marked by cloudless blue skies, denoting a clear day after a storm when the sun is bright, the sky is blue, the air is still and the slopes glisten with clean, fluffy snow — ideal conditions for winter sports"
To our BirdieBlue flock, a Blue Bird Day is more of a feeling…the pure joy you experience when spending the day out in nature on a perfect 10 out of 10 day.

When we started BirdieBlue, our team did wonder if we could find enough old, broken gear to keep up with demand. We quickly learned there are SO MANY old ski and snow suits out there that need saving.
